Kyoani, the anime studio behind the popular Samurai Jack anime series, announced plans to launch a Japanese-language website this summer.
The company, which also makes the popular action figures and other toys, is planning to launch an English-language version of its mobile app on the app store this fall, it said.
The new app will allow users to shop for Kyoans, create a profile, and interact with friends and family through a virtual shopping experience.
The app will also include a community hub, and users can buy merchandise from the app.
The app will be a platform for the community, said Kyoani founder and CEO Masato Ueda.
Users will be able to comment on products they like and purchase them on the site.
The company will also be launching a digital comic book, and will offer downloadable digital manga, Ueda said.
